Film Board Minutes

Date:  December 2nd, 2003

Meeting Started at: 6:05 P.M.

Unexcused Absences:  Pedro Lemmertz, Michael Lennon, Alexander Struthers

Excused Absences:  Nicole Carlson, Paul Lefief, Tamara Ojanen, Jeffery Wolodkiewicz

Minutes: Passed

President:  Bekki got a memo pertaining to a leadership conference if you’re interested.  There will be an organization fair in Wads that will be similar to K-Day on January 15th.  In case you haven’t heard, there will be a free preview this Wednesday.  There is also an exam taking place before hand (5:45-7:15).  Suggestions were made for crowd control.  Either we’ll close one entrance or rope off the area outside of Fisher 135.

Vice President:  If you signed up for working The Last Samurai, you’re guaranteed a seat at the show; if you’re working, show up around 6:20 or 6:30.

Secretary:  Nothing to report.

Treasurer:  For Bad Boys II we had 1,324 people in attendance and we made $662.65 in concessions.  Wayne suggested we increase the cost of pop per can.  We make around $200 on pop and without the deposit; we don’t quite cover the cost.  Next Wednesday USG will have a meeting, if we can get a group of people to show up it would look good, to get the $2,000 reimbursement.

Publicity:  There’s a lot of publicity for the free show, should have been out 2 weeks prior to the showing according to the contract.  There is a ridiculous amount and we should spread it out as best as possible.  On a side note, the library is giving away a Xerox machine; Bekki will tell them we’re interested.

Equipment Supervisor:  The movie should be coming tomorrow at 5 and going out at midnight.  Supposedly they’re sending 3 security guards and we have to play a piracy trailer.  The popcorn machine needs a little work.  Some holes have to be drilled in the base and the warmer needs about 2 hours before its hot enough.  The machine also needs to be programmed and a longer hose is needed.

Web page:  Updated for SWAT.

Advertising:  Nothing to report.

Concessions:  We should have enough supplies to get through the free movie tomorrow.  Chad has limited the variety of pop we will be getting.  Hopefully this will make the refrigerator less crowded.

Advisor:  Nothing to report.

Old business:  None

New business:  The Lode could be interviewing people at the showing, just a heads up.  Filmboard would like to thank Travis for covering the bill for the social.  There doesn’t appear to be any promo stuff for the movie.  We should take pictures of students entering the movie and perhaps making a speech thanking Verizon.  Next week we will be holding elections, so think of some nominations.  Also try to think about what show you can work before you come, that way we don’t have to wait around for it to fill up.

Meeting Adjourned: 6:30 P.M.

Dutifully Submitted,

John Jeske
