Film Board Minutes

Date:  December 9th, 2003

Meeting Started at: 6:05 P.M.

Unexcused Absences:  Jeffery O'Brien, Alexander Struthers, Lisa Welling

Excused Absences:  Nicole Carlson, Tamara Ojanen

Minutes: Passed

President:  Tonight we will nominate people for offices/chairs and vote on movies.

Vice President:  A lot of people are close to fulfilling requirements, so this weekend should be full.  If there is any confusion or you have a suggestion about the sheet, let Greg know.

Secretary:  Nothing to report.

Treasurer:  We “sold out” on The Last Samurai, making just under $100 in concessions.  For SWAT we had 1,130 people attend and made $510.56.

Publicity:  People who put out the publicity should be sure and grab the slips and table tents/flyers.  If you’re leaving at the semester let Adam know, so he can give you a free poster, otherwise we’ll hand them out next semester.  SWANK doesn’t seem to be giving away many posters this year.

Equipment Supervisor:  The room was a mess on Friday, there were pop cans, daily bulls, starburst wrappers, etc.  Also, there seems to be a problem with the money sheet, it’s an official record, don’t clutter it up with notes.  If you’re confused, ask a projectionist.  Craig has been contacted for another free preview and will update us on this when he gets some more information.  The movie will be Jersey Girls.

Web page:  Updated.  Paul put a little thing on there for the season, check it out.

Advertising:  Nothing to report.

Concessions:  Everything should be stocked and ready.  There have been some problems with buying a complete variety of pop.  There was a motion to raise the price of pop from 50 cents to 75 cents.  No one seconded and the motion dropped.

Advisor:  Travis suggested we try and play more cultural movies.

Old business:  None

New business:  There was a problem reading the subtitles, Craig attempted to move the screen up, but what we really need is either the film company to put them on the top or adjusting the equipment a little more.

Nominations were made for chairs/offices as follows:

President – Matthew McQueen and Russell Johnson

Vice President – None

Secretary – None

Treasurer – Chad Scherwinski and Jeffery Wolodkiewicz

Equipment - Craig Morehouse

Advertising - Nikolaos Kazakos

Concessions - Frank Hahnenberg and Jeffery Wolodkiewicz

Publicity – None

Two questions were brought about dealing with movies:

  • Would it be possible to have a blockbuster weekend showing all 3 matrix movies?
  • Would it be possible to show Return of the King?

Meeting Adjourned: 6:45 P.M.

Dutifully Submitted,

John Jeske
