Film Board Minutes

Date:  September 7th, 2004

Meeting Started at: 6:05 P.M.

Unexcused Absences:  James Asehinde, Matt Heyse, Michael Lennon

Excused Absences:  Paul Lefief

Minutes: Passed

President:  We have a few new members this week, who sat in and watched how a Filmboard meeting took place, it was probably very exciting for them.  We need a couple of volunteers for K-Day to sit at the table, enjoy the sun (hopefully) and encourage new members to join.

Vice President:  Let’s try to keep up the good work by filling on the positions for this weekend.  There’s a chance of having two required Saturday night cleanup, unless we get a few more members.

Secretary:  There is an up to date list in the Filmboard office pending all the newbies we get next week.  The cleanup lady asked if we could mop up the drips from the can boxes, she will leave the closet door open by the stairs leading to the projectionist booth.

Treasurer:  Scott estimates 400+ tickets were sold for Harry Potter 3.  We did decently well on concessions sales as well.

Publicity:  Our faithful leader missed putting the table tents out on Saturday; he’ll come through for us this weekend.  Adam didn’t have the table tents ready, they will be in the MUB on top the mailboxes, if you need directions his email is asgiacob@mtu.edu.  They should be there sometime on Thursday.

Equipment Supervisor: There was a problem with the oil oozing onto the floor, if this should happen again, let public safety know.  There was something wrong with the box, we still have one left, but we should think about getting some more sticks just in case.  There was a problem with missing reels for Harry Potter 3, and they were unhappy about sending them next day air.  It sounds like the movie will be coming in on Tuesday, so we can use 2-day air in case this happens.  The shipping shop would like to be reimbursed by someone, Niko gave our membership list to them so they know who to contact.  Matt will straighten things out with Mary.

Web page:  Webpage is updated.  A few suggestions were presented, a link to the term list that says “No Flash Required” and possibly a list of concessions we sale, but more likely popcorn, pop, and candy.  If anyone has any thing else they’d like Paul to do with the webpage, his email is pdlefief@mtu.edu.

Advertising: We still have a slide supplier, and Lisa would like everyone to contribute at least one slide.  They can be anything as long as it’s appropriate and readable from a long distant (high contrast colors).  The USG president would like a few slides, and if the need be, Lisa will make up some flyers for recruiting new members.

Concessions:  Frank says its good, so keep on selling.

Advisor:

Old business:  Constitution was tabled until another time.

New business:  There was a motion to hold a seed counting contest, with the closest 4 people receiving prizes.  The top prize will be a day in the life of a Filmboard member, and with that all the perks.  Matt will take care of all the FINE fine print.  Greg’s new scare tactic with the magic hat seemed to work very well as the Saturday night cleanup filled without a problem.

Also, projectionists be sure to prop open the pop coolers during the week.

Meeting Adjourned:  6:30 P.M.

Dutifully Submitted,

John Jeske
